Burton Based Else Solicitors Move up the Legal 500 Rankings

Else Solicitors in Burton-on-Trent is celebrating a move up in the Legal 500 rankings which were published last week. The Legal 500 ranks law firms across the UK based on feedback from clients, submissions from law firms and interviews with leading solicitors. It lists the top 500 firms who provide the most cutting edge and innovative advice to businesses with rankings being highly prized by legal practices.

The Commercial Litigation team, led by Andy Rudkin, has moved up their ranking from Tier 3 to Tier 2.  This puts Else on the same ranking as many larger firms in the region.

The team’s entry praises “The very experienced’ Andy Rudkin who demonstrates ‘good business acumen’ and represents clients in contractual, partnership, shareholder and intellectual property disputes as well as property-related claims.

Also recommended is Andrew Hickman, Head of Construction, who successfully appealed against a summary judgement in a professional negligence case.

In Construction, the Legal 500 comments that the “Level of service and industry knowledge is excellent.” Head of Construction, Andrew Hickman, is specifically mentioned and reference is made to a substantial final account dispute successfully pursued by way of Adjudication and the finalising of contract documentation relating to a development for a National Distributor.

The Corporate and Commercial team also joins the rankings this year.  Their entry praises “pragmatic, effective and commercial’ practice head, Adam Gilbert.

Adam is a ‘great asset’ and ‘understands well the demands of an in-house team’.

Adam advised the UK branch of Bavaria Brewery on an outsourcing agreement with Molson Coors and acted for Brit Sec Security Management during its acquisition of Snowdon Business Services.  The Else Corporate team also recently won Dealmaker of the Year for their role in the sale of Alca Fasteners to a new management buy-in team. Held annually to recognise the corporate finance industry’s leading deals and their advisors, Else won the SME Deal of the Year (Deals of less than £20m) category
