Else Solicitors had a Christmas jumper day in aid of Burton YMCA where everyone was invited to eschew their normal business wear in favour of festive attire. In the spirit of Christmas, participants were asked to bring in a food donation for Burton YMCA’s food bank.
Burton YMCA provides a safe and supportive environment for the homeless in East Staffordshire. Else Solicitors has a commitment to supporting the local community and this is a great way for us do so. We have several connections with the Burton YMCA and we are pleased to be able to support this worthy cause.
Christmas is a difficult time of year for many people, especially families on low incomes. A growing number of families in the Burton area rely on food banks to help them get through the week. Between 1st January and 30th November this year, Burton YMCA gave out 1,390 emergency food parcels. Each emergency food parcel provides enough food for 3 days and typically contains cereal, pasta, tinned meat and vegetables, tea and coffee.
Food banks cannot operate without the generosity of the local community and Else are pleased to be able to play their part.
Amiee O’Toole, one of our Dispute Resolution solicitors who organised the collection, said “We wanted to do something fun and festive that would also help the local community over the Christmas period. The YMCA foodbank was the obvious choice.”
