'Das Futbol Tournoi'

The much anticipated inaugural Else Charity ‘Das Futbol Tournoi’ takes place this week on Thurs 14th June 2018. The event pitches 24 corporate 6-a-side teams against each other on the new 3G astro pitch at Burton Albion FC.

The event has been organised by Else Solicitors, with all proceeds going to Burton YMCA (who also have a team entered). Other businesses that have entered a team include Barclays Bank, Fisher German, Smith Cooper, Springs Cleaning, and Wesleyan. Local companies ADS Accountancy, TL Darby, Wilo UK, and Clinigen Group are also taking part.

The event will run throughout the afternoon, with semi-finals and the final taking place around 5pm. Burton Albion Community Trust are running the event for us, and have also supplied a range of other football related ‘activities’ for participants to have a go at during the afternoon. There is food and drink on hand, and spectators are more than welcome to come along and support.

Dave Bryon, the tournament organiser said: “The idea of a corporate 6-a-side tournament came from Chris Else, who already hosts regularly month games between Else Solicitors and other businesses in the area. He suggested an afternoon tournament, and so I agreed to organise it! The response has been amazing, and we are full with 24 teams competing on 14th June at Burton Albion FC.”

Chris Else added: “We wanted to run the tournament as a Charity event, and the Burton YMCA is something that i’m very passionate about. We approached Paul (Laffey) and he was delighted. We expect to raise over £1000 from the event, and special thanks go to Barclays who are match funding to take the total to around £2,500. Thanks also to two other charities who are involved in supporting the day, namely Burton Albion Community Trust and O’Connor Gateway Charitable Trust.”
