Else Solicitors raise over £2000 for local charities through corporate 5 a side football event – Das Futbol Tournoi

The much anticipated inaugural Else Charity ‘Das Futbol Tournoi’ took place on Thursday 6th June. The event pitched twenty corporate 5-a-side teams against each other on the 3G astro pitch at Burton Albion FC.

The event, organised by Else Solicitors, and supported by Burton Albion Community Trust raised over two thousand pounds for local charities, Burton YMCA and Fountains Special School.

Dave Bryon, the tournament organiser said:

“The idea of a corporate 5-a-side tournament came from Chris Else, who already hosts regular monthly games between Else Solicitors and other businesses in the area. The response from last year was amazing, so we’ve done it again this year.”

Chris Else added:

“We like to run the tournament as a Charity event to benefit local initiatives. We’ve raised a total of £2060 which will be equally split between the Burton YMCA and Fountains Special School. The response this year has been great, I can’t think of a better way to raise some cash for local charities whilst having a kick about with local business professionals. It’s a winning formula.”

The competition was high as national companies including Barclays Bank, Fisher German, Smith Cooper, Springs Cleaning, Wesleyan, Reabrook and John Pye Auctions all entered teams. Local companies including ADS Accountancy, TL Darby, Wilo UK, Burton and District Chamber of Commerce, Profusion Wealth Management, Branston Golf & Country Club, Abode, Ground Solutions and Clinigen Group also showed up with strong teams too. The heats were fiery and full of adrenaline fueled emotion but the semis boiled down to Abode v Else A-team and John Pye v Wesleyan GI.

The final witnessed an epic battle of the elite between Else A-team and John Pye. The winners? Well, let’s just say ‘football’ and ‘charity’ won on the day…
