ELSE SOLICITORS GOLF DAY £3000 RAISED FOR LORD MAYORS CHARITIES

Mencap UK and Burton Albion Community Trust have benefited from fund raising by Else Solicitors and Barclays Premier Banking following a golf day held recently at Branston Golf Club.

The annual event was held in aid of charities supported by the Mayor of East Staffordshire and raised £3,100 from donations taken from the golf day and matched funding from Barclays.

The Mayor and Mayoress of East Staffordshire, Simon Gaskin and Jane Gaskin, joined the event for the meal and prize giving.

Nineteen teams took part with prizes awarded to:

  • 1st place team: Else Solicitors & guests – team 3 (Adam Gilbert, Paul Harman, James Pillinger, Mark Gardner)
  • 2nd place team: Branston Golf & Country Club guests (Ben Laing, Tom Kirkpatrick, Lee Evans, Nigel Saunders)
  • 3rd place team: Else & Guests – team 2 (Andy Rudkin, Lee Mortimer, Curtis Roberts, Richard Reed)
  • 4th place team: Knightsbridge Solutions (Ian Brown, Matt Harrison, Angie Harrison, Dean Webb)

Commenting, Chris Else said, “Our firm has a strong commitment to helping our local communities. Holding our golf day in aid of the Mayors Charities means the event helps to generate business opportunities for those taking part and helps charities deliver their services and support.”

Steve Ness, East Midlands Market Leader for Barclays Premier added, “The Else Solicitors golf day is always well supported and is now a main event on the calendar for Burton businesses and professional advisers to attend. Barclays was delighted to help boost the funding figure further by using “£4£”, the Barclays Banking Charitable matched funding scheme.  Steve,  further commented that it gave him and his team real pleasure when supporting great local charities.”

Mencap is a UK charity for people with a learning disability. It supports families and carers through research, funding and projects which help people lead more independent lives.

Burton Albion Community Trust (BACT) delivers programmes across five main themes; participation, social inclusion, disability, education and health and has won the community club award in 2016 & 2017.
